Some Things Ms. Alma Can Do Now

1. Chew on her hand. Alma has recently found her hands and has enough motor control to actually get them in her mouth. This has quickly become a favored past time.

2. Pull her head up while lying on her tummy. Alma has been able to hold her head up somewhat since she was born but now she is really a pro. She has gotten so strong!

3. Follow objects. When she really likes a toy her attention span is quite impressive. She is doing a great job of tracking objects as they move in her field of vision. She loves the Glow Worm!

4. Perhaps most impressive is that she can do #1 and #3 at the same time!

5. Smile! Perhaps my favorite is how much this baby smiles. Her social smile has increased and she is happy to greet you with it if you talk to her.

A bit of California Comes to K.C.

We have been so busy with weddings, traveling, me going back to work and Alma starting daycare that we haven't had the opportunity to post at all. But since we have has some extra special visitors lately, we thought this would be a great excuse to get some pictures of the little one up.

First my baby sister dropped in on her long drive back to California from Atlanta. This was the first time Alma met Aunt Ashley. We all enjoyed spending some quality time together before she had to get back on the road. Thanks for stopping in Ash!

Later that week Aunt Amanda and Uncle Matt come to visit. They are off to Ecuador in a few weeks and had to see the little lady before they left. It was great to all be together again (we even got to see Izzy and Maga dog).

Amanda and Matt both got to spend lots of time with Alma.

Izzy even showed a little interest....

Bon voyage guys! We look forward to seeing you back in K.C. in a few months.

Alma's a Bama Fan

Well at least her Aunt Kelley is and she bought Alma this adorable onesie. My Dad says that he is going to tease her about being named after Alabama (her Momma's birth state) when she gets older. Suppose this photo can be used as proof that even at 7-weeks she loved Bama!

I don't care what she's wearing, with a smile like that I can't help but love her to pieces.

After Bath Routine

Well as much of a routine as one can have at six weeks old. But seriously we have tried to establish 1) a bath routine and 2) an after bath routine. Since Alma is typically in a really good mood after a bath we have started laying a blanket down and letting her hang out on the floor for a while.

This is good for her to practice all those awesome motor skills but also this is a great chance for the animals to get a little closer look at her (although honestly Lili is the only interested party).

Alma's first visit to Columbia

This weekend we headed to Columbia for some things related to my (Matt's) work. But I won't bore you with the details.

After work, we went to a BBQ at our friends', Krista and Jeff's, house. That was lots of fun. Alma got to meet lots of people and get gawked at. We were proud parents with all the compliments about how awesome Alma is. Yeah. She pretty much is.

After the BBQ, we spent the night at our friends', Staci and TJ's, house. They have a little boy, Caleb, who is just over 1.5 years old, and he was very interested in Alma.

Caleb was all about kissing Alma!

It wasn't just Caleb who was interested in Alma, it was also Alma who was interested in Caleb.

After a good visit with good friends, it was time to go home.
